Story Time at Fire Station 27 Returns in April!

A beloved tradition is returning to our neighborhood thanks to the crew of Atlanta Fire Station 27’s B shift! Those of you who are longtime residents will remember seeing the sign outside the station when the firefighters would invite children and their families to come inside, hear a story, and tour the station and fire trucks.

Thanks to Captain O’Toole and his crew, that tradition will continue beginning on Wednesday, April 29 from 6-7pm. The event is designed for kids 2-8 but all siblings are welcome! Come and get to know our neighborhood firefighters and help revive this wonderful tradition.

Calling All Social-Media Savvy Students!

The Mt. Paran-Northside Citizens Association is looking for a local high school student who enjoys social media and photography to serve as MPNCA social media intern. This is a great opportunity for a student interested in marketing, communications, or media to gain real-world experience while supporting our community.

This role may include:

  • Setting up Instagram and Facebook accounts for MPNCA

  • Taking occasional photos at neighborhood events

  • Creating simple posts to highlight community news and activities

  • Helping showcase what makes Mt. Paran-Northside special

We’re envisioning this as a fun, flexible opportunity that could be a great addition to round out a résumé or school applications with just a few hours per month of commitment. We’d love to find a young neighbor who wants to help tell the story of our community!

If you know a student who might be interested, please reach out to Kathy Ghirardini at 404-583-9771 or kathyghirardini@gmail.com.

Help Shape the Digital Front Door of our Neighborhood!

The Mt. Paran-Northside Citizens Association is seeking a volunteer board member to manage our website and monthly newsletter, which are key tools for keeping neighbors informed and connected. This is a small but impactful role that helps showcase who we are, what we do, and how all neighbors can get involved.

What you’ll do:

  • Assemble and format the monthly newsletter for publication using provided content
  • Update website pages with community news and announcements
  • Send occasional member emails
  • Keep website information current and accurate

What you need:

  • Comfort with basic computer tasks (no coding required)
  • An eye for clean, simple formatting
  • Ability to commit about 2 hours per month
  • Attend one-hour monthly board meeting via zoom
  • Willingness to learn our systems (training provided)

Why it matters:

Our website and newsletter are often the first impression neighbors have of Mt. Paran-Northside. Keeping things up to date plays an important role in community engagement.

Interested in filling this role or want to learn more? Please contact Kathy Ghirardini at 404-583-9771 or kathyghirardini@gmail.com.

Buckhead Coalition CEO Tours Mt. Paran Country Store

You might be familiar with some of Buckhead Coalition CEO Katharine Kelley’s previous local work, including major Atlanta mixed-use projects such as Ponce City Market, South Downtown, Post Riverside (now MAA Riverside), and Glenwood Park, as well as neighborhood infill properties such as the renovation of the historic Manuel’s Tavern.

Katharine is currently conducting a walking tour through each of Buckhead’s 45 neighborhoods and commercial districts, visiting and meeting neighborhood leaders and civic association presidents along the way. She recently toured the Mt. Paran Country store with MPNCA Board President Sally Riker. Katharine and the Buckhead Coalition hope to gain valuable insights into favorite aspects of each of Buckhead’s neighborhoods, as well as opportunities to improve.

February Security Patrol Report

During February we had one burglary reported, at an abandoned house in the 4000 block of Conway Valley. This compares to 2 thefts, from autos reported at Whitewater Creek Park and from a landscaper’s truck on Hillside, in February 2025.

Security Patrol Statistics

  • Hours worked by the MPNCA Security Patrol in February: 293

  • House checks performed by the MPNCA Security Patrol in February: 310

  • Our neighborhood APD-identified security vehicle was in service every day in February.

Security Reminders

MPNCA members receive daily house checks when they are out of town, which provides great peace of mind. Our officers walk the perimeter of your home daily to ensure there are no issues. If there are packages left on the front porch, the security team will move them someplace less obvious. This is one more example of the MPNCA offering terrific value to the neighborhood for 41 years and counting!

To request security checks from the MPNCA Security Patrol at your home, please call or text 404-538-8946 or email security@mtparannorthside.com. This service is only available to MPNCA members.

We should always be aware of our surroundings and watch out for each other as a community. If you have any questions, please reach out to the security team. We are stronger together, and the MPNCA serves all of us! You can reach our on-duty security officer with questions or concerns by phone or text  at 404-538-8946, or by emailing security@mtparannorthside.com.
