We’re excited to share that MPNCA will be launching Instagram and Facebook pages later this year! These platforms will help us to better connect with neighbors, as well as showcasing the people, places, history, and character that make our neighborhood so special. 

As we begin the process of building these pages, we’d love your help!

Neighborhood History: The Story Behind 4430 Mt Paran Pkwy NW 

Our neighborhood is shaped by the unique stories of the people who live here. One such story belongs to the Margol family, longtime residents who left a lasting mark on our community. 

In 1965, Esther Margol and Howard Margol – a serial entrepreneur and past president of the MPNCA – purchased the property at 4430 Mt. Paran Pkwy NW. The Margols raised their four children in the original home. By 1991, they decided it was time to rebuild on the same lot they loved. 

True to his entrepreneurial spirit, Howard found a highly creative solution for the existing structure. Instead of undergoing a standard demolition, he donated the original house to the City of Atlanta for a live fire training exercise. This innovative move supported local first responders while providing a smart tax advantage. 

With the lot cleared, Esther took on the next challenge herself. After completing a building course, she stepped into the role of General Contractor for their new home. She had fallen in love with the design of a house on Northside Drive, tracked down its original designer, and secured the blueprints. Esther spent a year managing the construction. The result was a custom home built to structural standards rarely seen today. It features dramatic 20-foot ceilings, specialized HVAC registers engineered to switch between summer and winter settings, and custom skylights. 

Following Esther’s peaceful passing on March 10th of this year, this remarkable property is preparing to enter its next chapter and will be placed on the market in the near future. It represents a rare piece of MPNCA history, built with personal dedication and architectural foresight.

April Security Patrol Report

During April we had one crime reported, an “entering auto” on the 4400 Block of Sentinel Post. This compares to a similar crime in April 2025, also an “entering auto” on Buckingham Circle.  [Note from Larry Samuelson: By the way, a crime is categorized as “entering auto” whether anything was stolen or not. I had to ask our Security Team lead, Drew Bahry. Not the first time I needed to be educated!]  Security Patrol Statistics  • Hours worked by the MPNCA Security Patrol in April: 322  • House checks performed by the MPNCA Security Patrol in April: 837  • MPNCA’s APD-identified security vehicle was in service every day this month.  Our 70 hours/week security patrol, conducted by off-duty APD officers in our new APD-identified vehicle, continues to help keep all of us safe. The security team patrols the entire neighborhood, checks houses where the owners are out of town, and recommends steps each of us can take to keep our homes and neighborhood secure. We are truly thankful for their continued efforts!  Security Reminders  MPNCA members receive daily house checks when they are out of town, which provides great peace of mind. Our officers walk the perimeter of your home daily to ensure there are no issues. If there are packages left on the front porch, the security team will move them someplace less obvious.
